<p><a href="http://imaginetheendingart.tumblr.com/">Heather</a> and <a href="http://o-dream.tumblr.com/">Michelle Nunnelly</a> bitch about their art frustrations. Again.</p>

<p>That&#8217;s followed by a conversation about <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0050SXKU4/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B0050SXKU4&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">Grand Theft Auto V</a>. We briefly mention the controversy over <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/reviews/grand-theft-auto-v-review/1900-6414475/">Carolyn Petit&#8217;s critique of the video game</a>, and how people overreacted to her commentary. We also talk about how <a href="http://www.rockstargames.com/V/GTAOnline">GTA Online</a> should be the future of the video game series since it&#8217;s best fit for that format.</p>

<p>PLUS: Bunny news! Our favorite bunny, Jiji, was <em>very</em> sick a couple weeks ago. We talk about the scary experience of taking her to the vet.</p>

<p>Download audio file here: http://www.audioshocker.com/2013/10/14/vacant-bits-23-rain-time</p>
<p>Because of <a href="/Vacant/">VACANT</a>&#8216;s long hiatus, <a href="http://oraculardream.tumblr.com/">Michelle</a> and <a href="http://imaginetheending.tumblr.com/">Heather Nunnelly</a> only speak briefly about their artistic frustrations. Then they go straight off to talking about <a href="http://www.ign.com/games/rain/ps3-139127">Rain</a>, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058YPL66/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B0058YPL66&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">Once Upon a Time</a>, and <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DYAE2IY/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B00DYAE2IY&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">Doctor Who</a>.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" alt="" src="http://images6.alphacoders.com/321/321176.jpg" width="550" /></p>
<p>They both think the indie-style video game <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rain_(video_game)">Rain</a> is very beautiful but a little <em>too</em> easy. Its repetitive storytelling and gameplay don&#8217;t help a lot with that.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" alt="" src="http://665880566.r.lightningbase-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/tumblr_static_once-upon-a-time.jpg" width="550" /></p>
<p>However, as simple as Rain seems, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005XN3150/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B005XN3150&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">Once Upon A Time</a> is a lot more boring. They complain about how the series starts off strong with unique ideas but quickly becomes a show with no substance. Also, they mention Doctor Who a couple times.</p>

Michelle and Heather typically complain about every movie they see, but this comedy received no complaints. They highly recommend watching it.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" alt="" src="http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com//wp-content/uploads/multi/2012/05/indieGame.jpg" width="550" /></p>

All of the creators profiled in the documentary represent the everyday artist and the artist&#8217;s struggle.</p>
<p>The film shows what it&#8217;s like to work on a single project for a long period of time, providing insight on how this affects the creators as they assume the immense pressure that comes along with conquering their dreams.</p>

<p><em>(Heather and Michelle apologize if it seems like they&#8217;re giving the game developers a hard time on this podcast. Every artist has probably been in the position these creators have been in.)</em></p>
<p>All of the games in the documentary are beautiful and worth playing. These games are: <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Braid_(video_game)">Braid</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Meat_Boy">Super Meat Boy</a>, and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fez_(video_game)">FEZ</a>.</p>

<p><a title="https://Imaginetheending.net/VB20.mp3" href="/VB20.mp3">https://Imaginetheending.net/VB20.mp3</a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.audioshocker.com/">Audioshocker</a> is currently on hiatus until September, so this podcast will only be posted on ImagineTheEnding,net.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="/Vacant/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/sherlock-on-screen-modern.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-725" alt="sherlock-on-screen-modern" src="/Vacant/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/sherlock-on-screen-modern.jpg" width="550" /></a></p>
<p>Michelle and Heather go over <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b018ttws">Sherlock,</a> the British TV show, and how it’s ridiculously awesome. They talk about the iffy storytelling in Season 1, and how it’s quickly fixed in Season 2.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="/Vacant/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/PJS_Sherlock_by_del_kai_boi.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-726" alt="PJS_Sherlock_by_del_kai_boi" src="/Vacant/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/PJS_Sherlock_by_del_kai_boi.jpg" width="550" /></a></p>
<p>A section is dedicated to the infamous Irene Adler, and how she rubbed Heather and Michelle the wrong way in both Sherlock, and the American film, Sherlock Holmes. Why was Irene unsettling and why is she no help to the feminist movement?</p>
<p><strong>PART 2:</strong></p>
<p><audio controls preload><source src="/VB20part2.mp3" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars="audioUrl=https://Imaginetheending.net/VB20part2.mp3" src="/Vacant/wp-content/plugins/oembed-html5-audio/3523697345-audio-player.swf" width="400" height="27" quality="best"></embed></audio></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="/Vacant/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/SherlockVS.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-727" alt="SherlockVS" src="/Vacant/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/SherlockVS.jpg" width="500" height="424" /></a></p>
<p>They then, in part 2, do a compare and contrast between <a href="http://sherlockholmes2.warnerbros.com/">Sherlock Homes: A Game Of Shadows</a>, and Sherlock. Obviously Sherlock gets most of the compliments since neither of them were fans of the American adaptions of the book in the first place. Homosexuality and “Noisy” storytelling are two topics that they speak about in detail.</p>
<p>Also, this GIF was mentioned:</p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" alt="" src="http://www.audioshocker.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/500x308xattack-on-titan-500.jpg.pagespeed.ic.VC04ousxYA.jpg" width="550" height="308" /></p>
<p><em>Heather agrees&#8230; the characters need to shut the hell up.</em></p>
<p>A discussion about <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000767QTA/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B000767QTA&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">Neon Genesis Evangelion</a> transitions into a chat about <a href="http://www.comixology.com/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Villains-Micro-Series-Alopex-4/digital-comic/44203">Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Villains Micro-Series &#8211; Alopex #4</a> <em>(an issue where Heather did flats and color assists!).</em></p>
<p><a href="http://mooncalfe.deviantart.com/art/reminder-390137355"><img class="aligncenter" alt="" src="http://www.audioshocker.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/alopex-ross-campbell-color-500.png.pagespeed.ce.cAcsgJOQK6.png" width="550" height="364" /></a></p>
<p><em><a href="http://www.audioshocker.com/about/ross">Ross Campbell</a> uses basic color to great effect in the Alopex issue.</em></p>
<p>Finally, Michelle and Heather have been playing <a href="http://harebrained-schemes.com/shadowrun/">Shadowrun Returns</a>, a <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1613260297/shadowrun-returns">Kickstarter-funded</a> indie game. And they like it.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" alt="" src="http://www.audioshocker.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/500x313xshadowrun-returns-aex-500.jpg.pagespeed.ic.KfqRaIx5Kk.jpg" width="550" height="313" /></p>
<p><em>Heather <a href="http://vacantcomic.tumblr.com/post/56754747873/imaginetheending-i-promised-i-would-screen-cap">made</a> a custom <a href="/Vacant/characters/">Aex</a> character for the game!</em></p>

After that they say thanks to all those who supported <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2082447445/vacant-the-graphic-novel">VACANT&#8217;s Kickstarter</a> and submitted guest art.</p>

<p>Their topic this week is: <em>Should children read mature comics?</em> How does it influence their behavior? <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1595824510/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=1595824510&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">Chobits</a> and <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1935429477/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=1935429477&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">Love Hina</a> are the two comics Michelle and Heather read when they were young, and they talk about how that impacted their lives.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.audioshocker.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/kyon-haruhi.jpg"><img class="aligncenter" alt="" src="http://www.audioshocker.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/500x281xkyon-haruhi-500.jpg.pagespeed.ic._H7WWE7lhc.jpg" width="550" height="281" /></a></p>
<p>Michelle reads dialogue from <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1421535130/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=1421535130&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">Bakuman</a> wondering if the author himself is sexist or if the characters are intentionally written that way. They discuss how the portrayal in some manga may send a negative message to young readers, especially those who are not mature enough to filter it out.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.audioshocker.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/the-heat.jpg"><img class="aligncenter" alt="" src="http://www.audioshocker.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/500x300xthe-heat-500.jpg.pagespeed.ic.oEQYGltwbW.jpg" width="550" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>Last, they give a quick, positive review of <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BEIYJ8G/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B00BEIYJ8G&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">The Heat</a> starring Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock. Both of them recommend it if you want a good laugh.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.audioshocker.com/about/heather">Heather</a> and <a href="http://www.audioshocker.com/about/michelle">Michelle Nunnelly</a> start off with a reminder about the <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2082447445/vacant-the-graphic-novel">VACANT Kickstarter campaign</a>. It&#8217;s close to ending but it&#8217;s still going&#8230; SO PLEDGE NOW! Heather explains the ID card and dog tags incentives for the campaign, and talks a bit about the <a href="http://www.amilova.com/en/comics-manga/10609/vacant/chapter-5/page-3.html">latest VACANT discussion on Amilova</a>.</p>
<p>Next up, Michelle and Heather ponder the unintentional-but-uncomfortable sexism in <a href="http://www.youtube.com/show/twobestfriendsplay">Two Best Friends Play</a>. That leads to a conversation about &#8220;bad&#8221; art and if creators are aware of what they&#8217;re doing when they make it.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.audioshocker.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/monsters-university.jpg"><img class="aligncenter" alt="" src="http://www.audioshocker.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/500x281xmonsters-university-500.jpg.pagespeed.ic.ZQfo5fB-3u.jpg" width="550" height="281" /></a></p>
<p>Then they review <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008JFUPLC/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B008JFUPLC&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">Monsters University</a>. Both Michelle and Heather feel that the characters are too stereotyped. Forced into cliché cliques, it&#8217;s totally unrealistic that the characters would face this situation as college students.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.audioshocker.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/the-last-of-us.jpg"><img class="aligncenter" alt="" src="http://www.audioshocker.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/500x281xthe-last-of-us-500.jpg.pagespeed.ic.n0mMpsR94d.jpg" width="550" height="281" /></a></p>
<p>Finally, they review <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007CM0K86/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B007CM0K86&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">The Last of Us</a>, a new survival-action game from <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naughty_Dog">Naughty Dog</a>, the makers of <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0055202HE/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B0055202HE&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">Uncharted</a>. While they both enjoyed the game, they feel that the developer played it too safe. They finish off the review by comparing it to Jake&#8217;s storyline from <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0050SXLQC/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B0050SXLQC&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">Resident Evil 6</a>, which isn&#8217;t perfect but really fun.</p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2082447445/vacant-the-graphic-novel"><img class="aligncenter" alt="Support VACANT on Kickstarter" src="http://www.audioshocker.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/500x374xvacant-kickstarter-500.jpg.pagespeed.ic.3uzdjdtKi7.jpg" width="550" /></a></p>
<p>After a quick review of <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008220BP2/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B008220BP2&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">Warm Bodies</a>, Heather and Michelle do a compare and contrast between <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002I9Z8B2/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B002I9Z8B2&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan</a> and <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AZMFK3K/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B00AZMFK3K&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">Star Trek Into Darkness</a>. <p>Last, they review <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008JFUPK8/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B008JFUPK8&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">Man of Steel</a>. Heather disliked the movie, but Michelle liked it. This is the first time they&#8217;ve ever disagreed on a movie. They discuss their opinions.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.audioshocker.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/faora-ul-wallpaper.jpg"><img class="aligncenter" alt="Faora Ul in Man of Steel" src="http://www.audioshocker.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/500x307xfaora-ul-2-500.jpg.pagespeed.ic.DG1kTyPVTW.jpg" width="550" height="307" /></a></p>
<p>But even though they have different opinions about the new Superman film, they both thought <a href="http://www.audioshocker.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/faora-ul.jpg">Faora-Ul</a> kicked ass.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.audioshocker.com/about/heather">Heather</a> and <a href="http://www.audioshocker.com/about/michelle">Michelle Nunnelly</a> start off by talking about a couple storytelling techniques used in the <a href="/Vacant/">VACANT</a> webcomic. One in involves the &#8220;set up and pay off&#8221; style movie scriptwriters often use. The other involves Vacant&#8217;s prologue, which you can see as a <a href="/Vacanttrailer2.html">trailer</a>.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.audioshocker.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/black-widow-scarjo.jpg"><img class="aligncenter" alt="Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow" src="http://www.audioshocker.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/500x407xblack-widow-scarjo-500.jpg.pagespeed.ic.KTsERnfEd7.jpg" width="550" /></a></p>
<p>Then they go over the good bad girl trope. Examples of <a href="http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GoodBadGirl">good bad girls</a> include<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0039208QM/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B0039208QM&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">Catwoman</a> and <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001KVZ6HK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B001KVZ6HK&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=audios00-20">Black Widow</a>.
