Q: How long did it take you to write Vacant?

So far, 5 years. It was started in 2007. I had college, so I had to write Vacant during the summer.

Q: How did you come up with the title?

Funny question. Nothing too terribly deep. When Michelle was on the project, we wanted to design the settings to be very wide spread with little population. One day she said, 'I want it to be very vacant", and then that's when we chose the name.

Q: Who are you inspired by?

This is a very difficult question for me to answer. There is no one in particular that I am inspired by, to be honest. At the beginning it was Jhonen Vasquez with Invader Zim, but now I am inspired by just about anything. History and real life events are probably at the top of the list. Then it would be video games, comics, and anime.

Mass Effect is very very low on the list. I came up with Vacant before I knew about the game and when I saw it, I thought, "FUUCCKKK!!"

Q: When does VACANT update?

A: On the 1st of every month. I will upload whatever I have done. With other work, it's hard to keep a consistant amount of pages especially because I don't like cutting off the comic during a scene.

Q: How do I keep updated?

A: You can follow VACANT on twitter, tumblr, or facebook. There is also a Newsletter. When you are on the home page, look to the side. You will see NEWSLETTER in bold. Under it, put your name and e-mail.

Q: Why is Genevieve stiff in Issue 2 when she is found in one of Francis’s room?

A:1.Rigimortis. She died recently so Hayze is able to pick her up, but she is beginning to stiffen. 2. It just looks better drawn.

Also, so everyone is aware, that woman really is Genevieve. Just older. It’s not very obvious. I apologize about that. I mean it’s supposed to be a little mysterious, but I feel like the storytelling there really isn’t the best. The later issues will be improved. I got other complaints about this problem.

Q: Is Hayze's design inspired by the grey aliens that people report visiting Earth?

A: No actually he wasn't. His design came from different sources including my sister (Michelle Nunnelly), who helped me design the back of the head. There are aliens in the comic though that are called The Big Head Brigade, and those are inspired by those stories. They're green though.
